Welcome to Jurassic Coast Bass Fishing

We specialise in lightweight lure and fly bass fishing trips using soft and hard plastics, paddle tails and surface lures. While fishing for bass there’s also an opportunity to catch a range of fish including; cod, pollock, wrasse, mackerel, gurnard, bream, plaice, and sea trout. Having Weymouth harbour as a base gains us access to fantastic fishing grounds along the Jurassic coast. As the boat name, Spindrift, suggests we are always on the drift and fishing depths from 10 foot to 70 foot of water. Coded for 3 plus the Skipper you will have plenty of room to cast and move around the boat.

About us

The skipper – Elliot

A little about me and what got me to this point of skippering my boat Spindrift.

In my previous life I served 28 years in the army; I taught a wide range of outdoor activities: skiing, climbing, kayaking, canoeing and “a little of the green stuff”, I always found the time and space to squeeze a travel rod in when “visiting” and travelling to some great locations.

Never turning an opportunity down to fish, I’ve caught marble trout in the emerald waters of the Soca river of Slovenia; tiger fish in South Africa; largemouth bass in Algonquin (Canada); and everything from alpine trout to zander in breathtaking alpine rivers. But it takes a lot to beat the Jurassic coast (a difficult thing to admit, as a proud Cornishman).

As a fully qualified and insured skipper with a great knowledge of this wonderful stretch of Dorset coastline and with a passion for lure and fly fishing, why not step aboard Spindrift for a fishing adventure.

The boat – Spindrift

Spindrift is an Atlantis 20 Centre Console boat built in Guernsey to a high specification. Deep v hull and ample freeboard gives a dry ride and a sense of security when out at sea. Powered by a 135 Evinrude outboard we like to cruise at 20 to 24 knots, which allows fast and effective change of locations to find the fish. She is fitted with Garmin plotters and fish finder, VHF radio, life raft, and associated safety equipment, life jackets are supplied.

Spindrift is coded for 3 plus the skipper to an operating distance of 20miles from a safe port in daylight hours and fair sea conditions, so this allows plenty of fishing ground to be covered and different marks to be fished on the day.

The trip details

All our bass fishing trips will operate from the pontoon berth at Weymouth Harbour 500m North of the lifting bridge and just 50m up from the slip way, allowing easy access just a case of stepping aboard. Timings will change due to the tides, weather, and wind direction on the day. We will contact you the night before to discuss the finer details of the day. We supply all rods, reels and lures, however if you want to use your own, then please do.

Spindrift is an open boat which is fantastic for lure and fly fishing but does mean, when out on the water, we are at the mercy of the weather, so please bring suitable clothing, footwear and eye protection. It’s always colder on the water!

All our trips will finish at Weymouth where you can find an assortment of Pubs, and cafes to suit all tastes and budgets. Ample parking can be found with in 50m of Spindrift’s mooring.

All our bass fishing trips are for novice and experienced fisherman and for all ages. Under 18s to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. If you are paying for one place, we will do our upmost to match you with other clients who have similar fishing experience. Max of two fly fisherman and one lure fisherman, and most fly guys will want to give the lure fishing a go. Some experience of fly casting is essential.
